An Early Look At The Hamilton intra-matic: A Winner From Basel 2012, Already



Hamilton invited us to breakfast this morning to see the highlights of their Basel 2012 collection. There were some really excellent pieces, but the one that really caught our eye was the brand new intra-matic (all lower case).

The watch is clearly vintage inspired, and just as it was in the 1950s, it will be the sister watch to the Thin-O-Matic, the tribute of which we saw last year. The intra-matic feature simple stick markers with a domed crystal and dial. It is a thin watch at around 7mm thick. The intra-matic is great looking, and will be available in both steel and gold pvd, in 38mm and 42mm on leather or a bracelet.

The best part about the new intra-matic is the price: $845 for the 38mm and $945 for the 42mm - not bad for a nicely designed watch with a rock-solid ETA 2892 under the hood. These will hit stores in March.

Hamilton Ventura XXL Elvis® Anniversary: You Ain’t a Nothing But a Hound Dog

Yep, the very same one Elvis sported in many photo ops has now made another bow for Basel 2012. The Hamilton Ventura is one of those unmistakable watches you can identify across the room. You gotta admit this watch exudes 1960’s swank and perfectly matches the King’s off-beat, swiveling hips style. And, at the same time somehow the watch fits into the 21st century, with its retro-futuristic look. Sony agreed. For the third installment of the Men in Black series, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones wear the Ventura, the original when they’re in the 1960’s and once back in 2012 they clock the time with the new version.
Hamilton presented the first electric watch in 1957, the Hamilton Electric 500, which included the asymmetric Ventura in its lineup. What might’ve looked dated in the 1980’s has now swung back to hip. Last year Hamilton reintroduced the Ventura, updating its look for a modern wearer. A bolder case size and sleek black styling (PVD over stainless steel) mark this Elvis edition Ventura for the new era along with a water resistance to 50 meters. A black, rubber strap replaces the original elastic one. This is the only Ventura that ticks off a special mechanical ETA movement made specifically for this model. The rest use quartz.

The Hamilton Ventura XXL Elvis® Anniversary retails for a very reasonable $1345 and you don’t even have to grab a mic and croon to the crowd. But you can if you want to.

Pre-Basel 2012 – Hamilton Khaki Navy Pioneer



Limited Edition of 1,892 Pieces




As the brand embarks on its 120th year, Hamilton revives its naval past with the Khaki Navy Pioneer.

A contemporary interpretation of the brand's 1940s marine chronometers, this model transforms from wristwatch to table clock at will, housed in a Hevea wood presentation box.

The stainless steel case measures 46.5mm. It has an AR-coated sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 100 meters.

Movement is the Swiss manual-wind ETA caliber UNITAS 6498. The dial is silver with velvet finish, blued hands and it comes in a top-stitched brown leather strap with buckle.
