Zenith revives one of the company's most important movements for its 160th anniversary

The original calibre 135 was produced from 1949 to 1962.

Originally designed to compete in chronometry competitions, Zenith's calibre 135 broke records with 235 chronometry prizes during its production run from 1949 to 1962. To celebrate the company's 160th anniversary, Zenith is bringing the movement back inside a new collection of watches named after its founder, Georges Favre-Jacot. Not just a mere reproduction, the movement has been fully re-engineered and modernized for 2025.

The updated calibre 135 now has a power reserve of 72 hours versus the 40 hours of the 1950s version. It also features a new gear train with optimized tooth geometry, a balance wheel with regulation screws and a Breguet overcoil, a double-arrow shaped regulator for precise adjustments, and a balance staff that is protected by spring-moutned jewel settings.

Beating at a frequency of 2.5 Hz, the manually wound movement features bridges with "brick" guilloché finishing, a barrel with circular satin finishing, and a blac-polished crown wheel. This all comes housed inside a 39.15mm (10.5mm thick) platinum case that surrounds a lapis lazuli dial with a mother-of-pearl small seconds counter and a blue bricks guilloché outer ring.

The watch comes with three straps: a dark blue alligator leather strap with platinum pin buckle, a black calfskin leather strap, and a blue "Saffiano" calfskin leather strap. An optional platinum bracelet with a double folding clasp will also be available.

The G.F.J. will soon be available at Zenith boutiques worldwide.
