Rolex Just Teased Its Biggest Watch Release in Years.

Every year, a few days before the biggest watch event of the year, Watches and Wonders Geneva, Rolex releases a cryptic teaser video across its social media channels.

Most of the time, these teasers contain quick shots of several new models, forcing watch media professionals like myself to go into detective mode as we try to come up with the most accurate predictions of what The Crown will officially unveil in just a few days’ time.

Rolex GMT-Master II 126729VTNR — in white gold.

Unlike its predecessor, the 126720VTNR released in 2022, the new LHD GMT-Master II features a 40mm 18kt white gold case. If you’ve worn one of these, you know you expect some bulk, but nothing overwhelming, but the white gold is sure to add some heft. The Triplock crown, along with the dial’s cyclops date display are located on the left, a friendly gesture of goodwill towards the left-handed Rolex community. The bidirectional bezel, as always is ceramic Cerachrom and split between black and green for excellent legibility and tracking of a third time zone as needed. The watch is paired with a matching white gold Oyster bracelet with an Oysterlock folding clasp and 5mm Easylink extension mechanism. The Easylink should make fine tuning the sizing a snap. The case also has a solid caseback, sapphire crystal, and 100m WR.

The big change, aside from the WG case is the new green dial. We’ve seen plenty of green dials on Rolexes before, and this doesn’t appear different at first glance, but the dial is actual made from Cerachrom, just like the bezel. It’s got the expected applied indices with lume fill, a GMT hand that appears to match the other hands. Other than that, it appears to be business as usual.
