marios_ch έγραψε:Breaking News: The TAG Heuer Mikrotimer Will Be Produced And Delivered THIS YEAR (2011)
Guess what? We just got word that the Mikrotimer is indeed going into production, and production THIS YEAR. TAG will make ten pieces of the Mikrotimer to be delivered in late 2011 (which, come on, is not that far away), for a price of €65,000.

Re: TAG HEUER
Tag Heuer Mikrograph Wins Watch Of The Year
Tag Heuer’s very impressive Mikrograph has won both Watch of the Year and Ad Campaign of the Year.
Nice one: press release follows.
[Press Release] On 11 November 2011, during the prestigious Watch of the Year evening organized by the Ringier Group in Geneva, TAG Heuer was twice acclaimed by an audience of over 450 personalities from the world of watchmaking and from communications. The Mikrograph, the first chronograph to display one hundredth of a second, thanks to a central hand, was awarded the best watch of the year by the public, whilst the campaign that supported its launch was awarded the Best Campaign prize. Overwhelming recognition for the brand, the only one who had twice the chance to be on the podium.
“I am incredibly proud of my people: those who developed the Mikrograph as well as those who designed the advertising visuals that made it stand out. For such an innovative watch, we needed a campaign that would also break the mould, by dramatically staging the notion of precision in an original and creative manner” declared Jean-Christophe Babin, Tag Heuer’s President and CEO.
Designed, patented, developed and manufactured entirely in the TAG Heuer Haute Horlogerie workshop at La Chaux-de-Fonds, the Carrera Mikrograph 1/100th marks a milestone in the watchmaking industry: thanks to an escapement beating at 50hz, or 360,000 vibrations an hour, its central hand can measure and display time with 100th of a second precision. This is a major TAG Heuer innovation, confirming the brand’s leadership in the mastery of high frequency and the measurement of infinitely small intervals of time.
Mechanical innovation serving ultimate precision has thus been the driver of the development of the Mikrograph. Two limited editions were launched on the market with 150 pieces each, one with a brown central dial and the other in anthracite grey,. To woo the lover of beautiful timepieces, the advertising visuals needed to be as creative, avant-garde and unexpected as the product they were promoting. It was vital to pay tribute to the art of watchmaking and at the same time deliver a simple message : high precision.
And what is more precise than nature itself, so what could be more original than reproducing nature’s ultimate perfection using watch components? Developed with CLM BBDO, the TAG Heuer advertising agency, the campaign won the approval of a jury of communication professionals who were able to appreciate the poetry and refinement of the visuals and grasp the significance of the instant of time represented in that artistic way.

Re: TAG HEUER
New TAG Heuer Mikrogirder 2000 Re-Defines Fast, Ditches Balance Wheel In The Process
Apparently not content with chronograph speeds of 1/1,000th of a second, TAG Heuer have gone ahead and built a new concept watch, the Mikrogirder which has the ability to time events to 1/2,000th of a second. But that's not even the most surprising element of the watch. It accomplishes all this without the use of a balance wheel or even that Pendulum concept we saw a few years ago. The movement developed for the Mikrogirder uses a vibrating linear oscillator to attain its freakishly fast pace of 1,000hz. What's a linear oscillator? We hope to have an answer to that one soon.
The Mikrogirder 2000 bears a familiar looking dial to that of the Mikrotimer, but distinguishes itself with "bullhead" placement of the crown and chronograph pushers. With part of the case sitting at an angle to the base, the whole watch is reminiscent of an hold hand timer used in the 60's. Part of the dial is cut away to expose the small rods that comprise the linear oscillating system, which should afford some of you ample room for speculation as to how it operates.
Did we mention this thing is twice as fast as the Mikrotimer? That sees the flying central hand lapping the dial at a blistering pace of 20 times per second. That's a beat rate of 7,200,000 per hour. There are two sub dials at 3 o'clock and 12 o'clock that help construct the parts of the second you're more likely to be able to make out with the naked eye. The fractions of the seconds passing by are marked out to their decimal places along the outer ring of the dial, so you'll have no problem timing things like the half-life of unstable isotopes.
Our friends over at Calibre 11 have a more thorough breakdown of the Mikrogirder 2000 and they should be able to provide a more readily understandable explanation of its regulator system in the coming days. Click here for the full read.
