Mighty white: New Oris TT1 Day Date



Oris has just released a new version of the Oris TT1 Day Date from the Oris Motorsport Collection.

It features a three piece stainless steel case, white polished ceramic top ring, stainless steel crown and a screw down case back with mineral crystal.

Inspired by the Formula One Team AT&T Williams, the Oris Wiliams F1 Series features a 43mm steel case and comes with gaskets in a variety of colours.

Oris created the TT1 Day Date team to honour the accomplishments of AT&T Williams Formula 1 team. The watch is equipped with Oris SW 220 automatic calibre that performs 28 800 vibrations per hour and has 26 bearing jewels with a 38-hour power reserve. Hands and indices are luminous for improved night time visibility. A day and date display appears at the 3 o’clock mark.

The watch also has a white silicon shock absorber said to provide the ultimate protection while maintaining the bold personality of the watch.

The flexible white rubber strap has an easy adjustable length system developed to provide the perfect fit.

If pure as driven snow white is not your colour, the same design comes in a variety of different colour ways.

The watch is priced at around £980 (US$1,600) but has been spotted online for as little as £960

ORIS Kittiwake Limited Edition DIVER

By TLex ORIS have released a Limited Edition DIVER to commemorate the deliberate sinking of the USS Kittiwake in Grand Cayman, which was done in order to create an artificial reef. The Kittiwake DIVER measures 49mm and has a water-resistance of 100 bar or 1000m. It is a Limited Edition of just 500 pieces, and for every one manufactured, Oris will make a donation to the Kittiwake artificial reef project. The sunken ship's mechanical room has been dedicated to the partnership with Oris and in recognition of this a plaque has been installed there. The back of the Oris Kittiwake Limited Edition dive watch shows the logo of the Kittiwake artificial reef project with USS Kittiwake . . .



From ORIS Built in 1944, USS Kittiwake served for 54 years in many important missions around the world. This included the recovery of the black box recorder from the doomed Challenger spaceship in 1986. On January 5th, 2011, the Cayman Government oversaw the deliberate sinking of the Kittiwake to form a new artificial reef.



Limited to only 500 pieces, for every Oris watch manufactured there will be a donation given to the Kittiwake artificial reef project. The mechanical room of the sunken ship is dedicated to this partnership with the Oris plaque installed there.



Available in a ProDiver titanium case with “Rotation Safety System”, the back of this unique watch features the Kittiwake logo, together with the “diver down” warning flag on the dial, marking the association with the historic ship and its new role as a Mecca for diving enthusiasts. The black dial displays wave printing, and the indexes of the timepiece are filled with Superluminova.




The set includes a rubber strap, with an easy adjustable titanium buckle, perfect for wearing over a wetsuit. Water resistant to 100bar (1000m) the Oris Kittiwake Limited Edition is something to savour from an adventure to the Kittiwake reef in Grand Cayman.

Oris Chet Baker Limited Edition


Another exciting new release from Oris, this time a worthy tribute watch. Oris recently launched the Chet Baker Limited Edition at a party hosted at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in London’s Soho.
The watch is a tribute to the musical talent of Baker,delivering what Oris describes as an aura of sophistication and Oris refinement, with a musical twist.
A talented musician, Baker became renowned for his varied renditions of “My Funny Valentine”- a song which he became intimately associated with for the rest of his career.
A maverick musician

It’s understandable that any brand paying tribute to Baker would wish to airbrush out the decades of heroin addiction which defined and ultimately destroyed much of his career, but it is nonetheless an indelible part of the Chet Baker story, and it often got ugly.
Like the time in 1966 when he was beaten up in San Francisco while trying to buy drugs. The savage beating caused him to have his teeth knocked out, leaving him unable to play the trumpet. This forced him to spend months taking odd jobs such as pumping gas until such time as he finally managed to save up enough money to buy dentures and rekindle his career.
In this overly managed, overly protective show biz world we know today, none of this would have been allowed to happen, but Baker’s story is all the richer and more poignant for it.
Baker, who had an unmistakable sound and phrasing that is still celebrated and enjoyed throughout the world, eventually became equally famous for his vocals, but not without much flak from jazz purists.
From 1978 until his death, Baker resided and played almost exclusively in Europe, returning to the USA roughly once per year for a few performance dates. Baker’s most prolific era as a recording artist was 1978-88. But much of his output is strewn across numerous, mostly small European labels, and none of these recordings ever reached a wider audience.


The Chet Baker Limited Edition



The watch features a stainless steel case, with double curved sapphire crystal and a non reflective coating on the inside. The engraved case back features a silhouette of Baker with his trumpet, and the watches limited number, 1929 – the year of Baker’s birth.
The musical theme of the timepiece is continued on the face of the watch. The black dial provides a smooth backdrop for the hour indexes which are bars from the song “My Funny Valentine”. The 12 o’clock position features a clef, while the double bar line at 8 o’clock represents the first eight bars of the song which have to be repeated.
The watch coms on a black leather strap with crocodile imprint, and a stainless steel folding clasp ensures it stays secure.
The Chet Baker Limited Edition is presented in a box with a mechanically driven metronome, the perfect finish to an elegant timepiece, and kudos to Oris for selecting this non mainstream maverick musician as a subject for a tribute watch.
