For 2010, A. Lange & Söhne introduces the Lange 1 Daymatic with a completely new 426-part self-winding movement. This is the first automatic member of the Lange 1 family. The Daymatic dial mirrors the Lange 1 and adds a retrograde day-of-the-week indication. For those who wear their watch on the left wrist, this layout moves the time indication to the right so it is seen first as the sleeve is drawn back.
The Lange 1 Daymatic will be available in yellow and pink gold, and in platinum. The case is 39.5mm in diameter, about 1mm larger than the Lange 1. The dial is solid silver, and beneath it lies calibre L021.1, developed from the ground up for the Daymatic. The central winding rotor extends to the edge of the 31.6mm movement. The rotor is solid German silver embossed with the “A. Lange & Söhne” signature. The rotor’s outer rim has an added platinum mass to increase winding efficiency. The fully-wound mainspring provides a 50 hour power reserve.
The movement features many other typical Lange traits, including a hand-engraved balance cock, an indexless oscillation system based on a large balance wheel with eccentric poising weights, and a balance spring developed and manufactured in-house. Thermally blued screws secure seven gold chatons. The movement beats at 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour.
