Vulcain Aviator Dual-Time Trophy Watch

Here’s a sharp looking new piece from Vulcain. Unfortunately these watches are next to impossible to find the US. This watch is limited to 100 pieces and was produced in concert with Vulcain’s sponsorship of the 2012 Vulcain Trophy regatta. The watch features Vulcain’s famous “cricket” alarm movement, with a second time zone controlled via the screw-down crown located at 4 o’clock.

Update: An informed reader pointed out that Arizona Fine Time is a US retailer of Vulcain, if anyone is interested.

An identical re-edition of the 1950 model, this watch houses the famous hand-wound Cricket V-10 movement. Available in steel and in steel/18K rose gold versions, this model pays tribute to its predecessor which made an unmistakable mark as the Presidents’ Watch.



Vulcain has made an indelible imprint on the history of alarm watches. In 1947, the brand presented the Cricket alarm calibre that was to become a legend – a movement sufficiently innovative to equip a number of Vulcain wristwatches that were worn by many of the world’s most powerful figures. American presidents, including Truman, Eisenhower, Nixon and Johnson, succumbed in their turn to the charms of this model, to the point where the Vulcain alarm watch was quite simply dubbed “The Presidents’ Watch”.

The Heritage Presidents’ Watch is fitted with a cambered sapphire crystal and a sapphire crystal case-back enhanced by the stylised “V” for Vulcain – or with a solid double case-back on request.

Since 1858, Vulcain has constantly explored new technical and aesthetic horizons in renewing horological traditions. The Heritage Presidents’ Watch is a tribute to history and to the Cricket alarm movement that both reflects and perpetuates this avant-garde vocation.




Vulcain pays tribute to this legendary model by creating The Heritage Presidents’ Watch, a faithful reproduction also endowed with the latest technological innovations. Equipped with the legendary Cricket V-10 calibre and its balance beating at 18,000 vibrations per hour, it is endowed with a comfortable 42-hour power reserve. This 157-part calibre also powering a date display is fitted with two barrels: one to supply the energy required for the hours, minutes and seconds functions, and the other to drive the alarm function which sounds for a full 20 seconds and has forged its reputation for over 60 years. CASE: two-tone 18K rose gold/steel - Diameter 39.00mm - Height 12.40mm with sapphire case-back revealing the stylized «V» for Vulcain or 12.70mm with triple case-back.

The case, in stainless steel or 18kt rose gold, measures 42mm x 13.7mm with 22mm lugs. It has a sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 50 meters.



Movement is the Swiss automatic Vulcain mono-pusher cronograph caliber V-57 with 25 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 42 hours. It is Rhodium-coated, features blued screws and is finished in a Cotes de Geneva motiff.

The strap is Louisiana alligator with steel or 18kt rose gold pin buckle.

The case, in stainless steel or 18kt rose gold, measures 42mm x 12.4mm with 22mm lugs. It has a sapphire crystal and display back, and is water resistant to 50 meters.





Movement is the Swiss manual-wind Vulcain in-house caliber Cricket V-16 with 17 jewels, 18,00 vph and a power reserve of 42 hours. The duration of the alarm is 20 seconds.



The dial is blue sunray with rhodium indeces and Herbie Hancock signature. The strap is Louisiana alligator with steel or 18kt rose gold pin buckle.
